Kya wo mai hi tha...

Garam garam chai ke sath thandi barish ka maja !
Ek ek boond ke sath chadhta wo nasha!

Kya wo main hi tha....

Kati patang ke piche bhagta wo ladka
Fati patang bhi mil jaye to nachta wo ladka

Kya wo main hi tha.....

Thande kuyein ke pani me jab khada rahta tha
Chanchal machhaliyon ke shprsh se thartharata

Kya wo mai hi tha.......

Pal pal bhagate huye suraj ko canvas pe utarata
Bas rangon ke siway kuch bhi na dikhta tha

Kya wo mai hi tha... aur ab

Shahar ki bhid ke sath bhagta huaa...
Roj apne andar kuchh badalte huye chup chap sa dekhta

Kya ye main hi hoon!
Kya ye main hi hoon!!

(This is my 1st attempt to write poem in Hindi and before this i think i have written 2,3 poems in Marathi. I am new to this poem thing so pardon me if i am missing out on something :) )

Back to square one

Painting on canvas has always been my 1st love. I like many other things but when I complete a painting, the satisfaction I get, can't be compared to anything else. This painting is acrylic on canvas (30"x36"). I think its my first complete portrait after a long gap of more than 4 years. Initially it was not easy as I had been doing portraits in Photoshop and the sketching with pencil but not with REAL colors for sometime. Was a bit nervous during the initial two days but on third and last day I got it under control.
I got a few negatives and positives from this painting exercise. Most important thing that I derived: never stop working otherwise u will loose your freedom with that medium. This painting brought back my confidence of doing portraits again. Doing landscapes or compositions is relatively easy because you don't need to be precise with the colors and tones. So by overcoming these difficulties I got a good result. I know this is not the best painting I have ever done but I'm happy that at least I got a start.
Thanks to Binal who posed for this painting and Alex who helped me with lighting.

Anoushka Shankar

I am into indian classical music from my college days, i use to play Indian Flute and Tabala, but now my music has become limited to enjoying great people`s work because of other priorities in life. I am a big fan of Pandit Kumar Ghandhrva, P. Bhimsen Joshi, Kishori Amonkar P. Jasraj in vocals and in instrumental i love pandit Hariprasad Chourasiya, Usatad Zakir hussin, Pandit Ravi shankar and many more.
As i like experimentation in various mediums,i like to hear fusion music also,
Few years back i'd got a chance to hear one amazing albam "Rise" by Anoushka Shankar at my friends place. It was a soul touching music. I complitly got lost into it and i became fan of Anoushka Shankar. Then I started collecting all the music created by her and every time it was greater experience than previous.
As everyone knows Anoushka Shankar is daughter of Pandit Ravi Shankar and sister of Norah Jones. It was not easy to come out of shadow of her father and making her own identity, but she made it possible and created some amazing music.what i like about her music is, as she likes to experiment with fusion music yet she is strongly rooted to Indian Classical music. I haven`t got a chance to listen to her music live but i will catch her soon.
